About Us

Look, learning a language shouldn't feel like you're cracking some ancient code. We're here because we got tired of watching people slog through grammar drills that put them to sleep. Heritage Center started as a simple idea: what if language learning was actually... fun? What if your teacher remembered your name, knew you hated verb conjugations, and actually adjusted on the fly? We work with everyone from nervous beginners to folks prepping for that big job interview. Our classrooms aren't quiet libraries (thank goodness). They're places where mistakes happen, real conversations flow, and somehow you wake up speaking better without memorizing a single declension table.

Over time, we’ve built a reputation for reliability, quality, and clear communication. We treat each project as a partnership and aim for outcomes that last.

Our Mission

We help people unlock new languages without the academic stuffiness. Every student gets actual attention, real-world skills, and teachers who genuinely care whether you succeed. No cookie-cutter lessons. No pretending grammar rules are thrilling. Just honest, practical language education that sticks.

Our Vision

Imagine a world where language barriers dissolve. Where a kid from București can chat with someone in Barcelona. Where job opportunities aren't limited by what languages you speak. That's what we're building toward—one conversation at a time. We want Heritage Center to be the place locals recommend to their friends.

Our Core Values

The principles that guide everything we do

Real Connection Over Rankings

We're not obsessed with test scores (though you'll probably crush those). We care that you actually communicate. That you walk in nervous and leave with confidence. That matters more than any certificate.

Honesty in Every Class

Your teacher will tell you when you're struggling. They'll also tell you when you're crushing it. No sugar-coating, no false encouragement. Just straight talk about where you're at and where to go next.

Teachers Who Get It

Our instructors aren't just native speakers who happened to need a job. They're people who love languages, love teaching, and remember what it's like to be confused. They adapt. They listen. They actually show up.

Flexibility That Works for You

Your schedule's weird? Cool. You need evening classes? We've got them. Want to focus on conversation instead of grammar? Let's do it. We bend so you don't have to.

Our Story

We launched Heritage Center back in 2011 when our founder got sick of the textbook approach to language teaching. Started with just English classes in a cramped space near the university. But word spread fast. People liked that our teachers weren't robots reciting lesson plans. By 2015, we added Spanish and German. Then French. Now we're teaching 47 different students across 6 languages in a space that's actually comfortable. We've stayed small on purpose—big enough to offer real variety, small enough to know everyone's name.

The people behind Heritage Center

Elena Popescu

Elena Popescu

Director & Founder

Elena spent 12 years teaching English across three countries before founding Heritage Center. She speaks 5 languages (and admits she's still learning). When she's not in the classroom, she's reading crime novels or convincing friends that Duolingo isn't real language learning.

Marcus Chen

Marcus Chen

Spanish Program Lead

Marcus grew up bilingual in Spain but spent his twenties working corporate jobs. Now he's back doing what he loves—helping people speak fluently without the stress he experienced learning English. He brings patience and bad jokes in equal measure.

Svetlana Dimitrova

Svetlana Dimitrova

Curriculum Designer

Svetlana has this weird talent for knowing exactly what'll click for students who are stuck. She designs our lessons (without the boring parts) and somehow remembers every student's learning style. Coffee enthusiast. Grammar nerd. But fun about it.

We’re a team that values ownership, clarity, and growth. We celebrate wins, learn fast, and keep client outcomes at the center.
